Let’s forget about the metaverse. AI is the star this year.
We recently looked into over 276 million job ads posted on our site between January 2021 and September 2023 to reveal the immense potential of AI in the job market.
In this article, we discuss how AI is transforming the workplace and what this means to jobseekers.
Inside the unstoppable rise of AI
AI is certainly unstoppable and will revolutionize the workplace. Some forward-looking employers began looking for new blood this year. In the first half of the year, the number of advertised job ads citing “Generative AI” skyrocketed from 185 jobs in January to 1,496 jobs in May – that’s a whopping 800% growth!
Within four months, in September, there were 6,127 “Generative AI” job ads. Just two years ago, in May 2021, there were merely 10 “Generative AI” job ads.
For those who are new to the whole AI thing, Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is the process of machine learning algorithms that is capable of creating new content, including text, video, and images. It is the magic behind ChatGPT, DALL-E, Midjourney, and other trending AI chatbots.
Apart from “Generative AI”, we’ve also spotted the number of job ads citing “artificial intelligence” climbing from 103 job ads in January 2023 to 4,344 job ads in August 2023.
If you’re interested in finding an AI job, consider typing in these common AI terms during your job search: “Machine Learning” (53,706 job ads in September 2023), “Natural Language Processing” (10,431 job ads), and “LLM” (5,012 job ads).
