These offices are pawfect for dogs

National Take Your Dog To Work Day was celebrated on June 24th this year, and is arguably the best day of the year. However, many companies are taking this one step further by creating dog-friendly offices all year round. For some, this is a pretty new incentive in order to boost numbers in the office. For others, having furry friends in the office is nothing new. At Adzuna, we have taken a look at the best companies to work for if you can’t bear to part with your pet during the day.

Airbnb

Vacation home rental site Airbnb is a great place to work if you’re dog-obsessed. Well-behaved pups are welcome with open arms, with in-office snacks available on tap. A highlight of this dog-friendly office is the employee badges given to dogs. Just like their human owners, the office dogs scan in every day and even have a ‘people’ page in the internal database!

Tito’s Handmade Vodka

Living by the motto ‘take your dog to work every day’, Tito’s Handmade Vodka is a great example of a dog-friendly office. This one has a pretty cute story behind it.  When Tito Beveridge, the founder, started distilling vodka, his dog, DogJo, was always by his side. Since then, the HQ in Austin has always opened its doors to employees’ dogs. The company even has ‘co-woofer of the month’ just like employee of the month but filled with fun facts about the month’s best-behaved four-legged friend.

Build-A-Bear Workshop

St Louis-based company Build-A-Bear Workshop welcomes dogs to the office. They actually take this one step further by having a chief executive dog who throws annual parties to celebrate all of the office dogs. The pooches are certainly pampered, with the company offering transportation for the dogs to have spa days and day camp experiences.

Ben & Jerry’s

Ben & Jerry’s has long been recognized as an ethical company, but did you know about their dog-friendly offices? Ranked 31st in a national survey of dog-friendly companies, Ben & Jerry’s is definitely one to look out for when searching for offices to take your pets into.

The ice cream company has various treats on hand for dogs wishing to spend the 9-5 in the office. Ben & Jerry’s also produces doggie desserts so we can only imagine how spoiled their office dogs will be! It is no wonder that before the pandemic, the company had a dog-to-person ratio of 1 to 2. If you’re ever in need of a pick-me-up, their page dedicated to their ‘k9-5ers’ is well worth a look.

Amazon

In their Seattle HQ, dogs are more than welcome to come to the Amazon office. With as many as 6,000 dogs in the office on any given day, Amazon is clearly in favor of the dog-friendly office lifestyle. Cool features include the ‘doggie deck’ on the 17th floor, which is kitted out with fake fire hydrants, dog relief areas, and water stations. There is even a leash-free dog park for furry friends to play in! Amazon is definitely a dog’s paradise!

Trupanion

Pet insurance company Trupanion also has pet-friendly offices. This one may not be overly surprising as their business is focused on looking after pets but it is still pretty cool. In Trupanion’s office, you can not only expect to see dogs but cats as well (hopefully they are kept separate!) Every cubicle has pet beds and blankets for furry friends to rest up, after all, it is tiring coming into the office! There are also two puppy play areas for those who don’t want to sleep all day.

Milk Bar

Dessert and bakery chain, Milk Bar, has dog-friendly offices. Dogs receive daily walks with employees from the office. As well as this, dogs are occasionally given baked dog treats, which will be delicious, seeing as the company specializes in baked goods.

Zogics

Named as one of America’s most pet-friendly companies, Zogics is a perfect company for those wishing to bring their four-legged friends to work. Zogics give new pet parents a week of pawternity leave to help settle any new pets. The office is the perfect place for dogs too, with 15 miles of hiking trails, there is definitely not a lack of space for them. Aside from this, dogs receive a lifetime supply of Zogics pet shampoo as well as a pet store gift card.

Live Nation

Last but certainly not least is Live Nation. The entertainment company offers dog-friendly offices in most of its locations globally. If this wasn’t enough, the company even has an Instagram page dedicated to images of the office dogs. How cute!

The attitude towards dog-friendly offices is definitely changing and more and more employers are looking for ways to incorporate dogs into their daily life. If you’re struggling to find dog day-care and looking for a more dog-friendly company, this list is a great place to start. Remember that although a company may state that it is dog-friendly, it is probably a good idea to make sure that your pet is well-behaved and trained to avoid any awkward accidents.
