The impact companies have on the environment is becoming more important for people when they are searching for a new job. 1. Cisco Systems

World Ranking: 7th

Sustainability Efforts: Cisco has been working very hard over the past few years to reduce the amount of energy that the company uses. Currently, 80% of all the electricity the company uses is from renewable energy. By 2020 they plan to eliminate 1 million tons of greenhouse gases from their supply chain. They are also working to reduce animal poaching through tracking hunters with new technology.

2. Autodesk 

World Ranking: 8th

Head-Quarters: San Rafael, California

Industry: Software

Sustainability Efforts: Autodesk focuses on using reusable materials and technology to do everyday business. They are committed to teaching their employees how to practice sustainability and encourage behavior that does minimal damage to the planet. They produce reports every year on their environmental efforts and continue to reduce the damage they cause to the environment.

3. Merck 

World Ranking: 13th

Head-Quarters: Kenilworth, New Jersey

Industry: Pharmaceuticals

Sustainability Efforts: Merck is working to reduce the amount of water they use for the business and increase the amount of reusable energy they use. By 2025, they have a goal to use only the same or less amount of water as they did in 2015. In addition, they have a goal to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases they produce by 40% by the year 2025.

4. Allergan

Head-Quarters: Madison, New Jersey

Industry: Pharmaceuticals

Sustainability Efforts: Allergan has worked to reduce the waste for every resource the company uses. They have reduced the total amount of waste intensity by 25%, greenhouse emissions by 22%, and water consumption by 7%. The company plans to continue reducing the amount of damage caused to the environment and has set more ambitious goals to improve their sustainability efforts.

5. Intel 

World Ranking: 26th

Head-Quarters: Santa Clara

Industry: Semiconductors & Semiconductor Equipment

Sustainability Efforts: Intel also focuses on reducing waste generated by the company. Since 1998, Intel has saved more than 57 billion gallons of water and significantly decreased the amount of greenhouse gas emissions. They also offer benefits for employees that practice sustainability habits and also encourage others to do the same. Their technology is used to protect the environment and they have set goals to do more in the future.
