26646BRReq No.:26646BRJob Description and Qualifications:Air Products, manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking a high energy, self-starter to fill a Field Instrumentation and Electrical Technician position. This position primarily supports our four main HyCO plants in California, along with 8 smaller facilities throughout the US and as required will support all our facilities in the U.S. and Canada.This is a residence-based position with the preferred area located in either southern or northern California, Phoenix, AZ area, or Reno / Las Vegas, NV area. All tools and PPE required for this position will be provided.You would be responsible to perform and/or supervise the inspection, repair, installation and modification of process controls, safety devices, analyzers, PLC's, field instrumentation and process monitoring equipment in Air Products operated plants, joint ventures, subsidiaries, and third party facilities. You would also be responsible for commissioning of new plants in addition to troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of plant instrumentation and controls.Our technicians have a very challenging and rewarding position. You would be expected to respond to Operations requirements on a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week basis. Generally, technicians average 60-65 hours per week and they travel away from home about 75% of the time.The Technicians' responsibilities include:- Technicians must be familiar with all equipment in plants served. A sampling of these devices include transmitters, switches, analyzers, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, equipment and personnel safety systems, paymeter systems, and others. Within each category are a variety of pneumatic and electronic devices.- Technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and working with Instrument Engineering Support to maintain distributed control systems. This is a most rapidly changing technical area and requires a high level of technical training.- Prepare and provide technical reports and enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation and information for equipment.Qualifications / Requirements:- High school diploma/equivalent- Minimum five years of experience with calibration and troubleshooting of industrial plant instrumentation and controls- Knowledge of PLC and DCS controls is a plus- Supervisory skills/experience a plus- Basic computer skills- SAP knowledge is desired- Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes climbing ladders and stairs, lifting up to 50 lbs., working at heights and in confined spaces- Ability to travel on short notice and work extended hours, typically 12 hours per day when in the field- Ability to work in a team environment, with safety first as a primary focus- Ability to communicate effectively across technical, operations and maintenance linesThis is a ladder position and advancement is possible based on experience and demonstrated competency.Military Veterans: Air Products is a military friendly employer that values the skills obtained through military teamwork.
