Position Available: Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday -- Friday 7:45 am -- 2:00 pm / 12 Months of the Year
(2 week breaks in the beginning & end of summer and winter, fall and spring break)
Pay Range: $14.00/hr - $16.00 p/hr depending on experience and education
Qualifications and Skills
**Applicants should be responsible, energetic, patient, and have a willingness to learn
**Previous experience working with individuals with autism in a special education setting is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
**18 years of age or older
**High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
**Physical requirements: Must be able to lift to 40 lbs
**Employees must be able to bend, stretch, reach, twist, walk, run and stand for an extended period.
**Must be willing and able to care for energetic children and young adults
**Ability to read and interpret documents.
**Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
**Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
**Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
**Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
**Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
**Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
**Ability to work in a face-paced, loud environment.
**Implementing IEP objectives using ABA teaching strategies
**Delivering reinforcement to improve desired behaviors
**Managing problem behaviors using ABA principles and crisis management techniques
**Assisting students with feeding, toileting and hygiene needs
**Prompt students to respond in both large and small group settings
**Follow behavior plans to help reduce problem behaviors and increase appropriate, adaptive behavior
**Accurately record data related to student's behavior plan, academic, communication, self-help and social skills objectives.
**Maintain cleanliness of the classroom throughout the day (i.e. cleaning up after small groups, straightening classroom up before lunch, cleaning kitchen after your class is finished). Cleaning and straightening up the classroom, after dismissal, making sure that it is ready for the following school day.
**Intensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst
