The University of North Carolina Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology/Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery is seeking a fellowship-trained academic urogynecologist for a full-time, open rank position. This position is ideally suited to a junior to mid-level faculty member. This position will be clinically active and also have time devoted to research and education. We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual with a reputation of outstanding clinical excellence, whose primary responsibility will be the expansion of clinical services.
Clinical responsibilities will include the outpatient and surgical care of complex patients with pelvic floor disorders in two different geographic locations (Raleigh and Hillsborough).
The University of North Carolina has rigorous academic standards for promotion and the requisite candidate will demonstrate a track record of academic excellence and scholarship. The research responsibilities of this position include traditional scholarship that is required for academic promotion. Experience with clinical trial design, implementation, and publication is desirable.
Finally, we require a candidate with evidence of teaching excellence. This position will involve the direct supervision and education of medical students, residents, and fellows. We wish to attract a candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Educational Requirements
Completion of a 4-year ACGME accredited OB-GYN residency. Completion of a 3-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery.Qualifications and Experience
Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB-GYN.

Qualified applicants should have experience in the evaluation and management of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, complex genitourinary fistulae, bladder pain syndrome, mesh complications, fecal incontinence, obstructed defecation, and dyspareunia. Requisite office procedures include complex urodynamic studies, diagnostic and operative cystoscopy, urethral bulking injections, percutaneous posterior tibial nerve stimulation.
Requisite surgical skills include extensive experience with vaginal repair of prolapse with and without the use of graft materials, minimally-invasive repair of prolapse repair of complex genitourinary fistulae, removal of pelvic mesh including cases involving erosion into the bladder and bowel, management of primary and recurrent urinary incontinence with and without the use of graft materials, and perineal and anal sphincter reconstruction.
