Provides safety and environmental leadership through compliance with federal, state and local environmental health and safety regulations.
Provides EHS leadership, guidance and technical support.
Obtains and manages legal counsel and consultants as required.
Collaborates with plant team to ensure safe, environmentally practical solutions are achieved for EHS issues.
Supports employee involvement and assumes leadership role in developing positive work environment.
Mentors EHS staff and ensures their professional development.
Environmental, health, and safety compliance
Oversees EHS regulatory requirements; ensures all regulatory requirements are implemented.
Develops and maintains EHS systems, processes and records.
Develops EHS training to ensure compliance and communicate expectations.
Acts as the point person to identify, correct, and communicate EHS issues in a professional manner.
Conducts risk assessments and accident/incident investigations to obtain the root cause and ensures corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
Maintains an understanding of all site industrial processes, chemicals and by-products in order to perform duties associated with process safety management, hazardous waste and emergency response, industrial hygiene and chemical approval.
Monitors new EHS legislation and facilitate process or system changes as necessary.
Manages the worksite industrial hygiene process.
Workers compensation and early return to work
Collaborates with workers compensation, physicians and management to ensure employees receive proper medical treatment for work related injuries in a manner that allows them to return to work promptly.
Acts as the liaison with workers compensation on injuries and issues in a proactive, cost efficient manner.
Provides guidance to operations on employees returning to work within their restrictions to encourage return to work at full capacity.
