The Student Life Graduate Assistant (GA) will gain a broad-based understanding of Student Development and Residential Life management through collaboration and cross-training. The GA will provide active support of campus colleagues and programs and serve in the on-call crisis response rotation with the residence hall director professional staff.
In Residential Life, the GA will serve as a student conduct hearing officer for low-level policy violations, support Office and Divisional marketing initiatives to promote “Make Iona Your Home”, assist with leadership development and training, assist with housing operations and office operations as needed, and support student retention and success initiatives including Orientation, Move-in Days, programming, major campus events, etc.
In Student Development, the GA will advise clubs/organizations, plan and moderate programming, assist with office operations, assist with leadership development and training, and support retention and student success initiatives including Orientation, Welcome Day, programming, major campus events, etc.
The GA will work 20 hours per week from August – May within Student Life (hours to be determined with supervisor). Some flex hours on nights and weekends will be required and schedule modified to meet these needs. The GA will serve in the on-call Residential Life rotation for three, three-day weekends each academic semester in the fall and spring.
