The Employee Health Nurse Lead will provide an ongoing health maintenance program encompassing pre-placement screening and current employee’s job related health. Employee Health Nurse will also coordinate activities with Infection Control, Workers’ Compensation and Safety Hospital functions. The employee shall present a pleasant and helpful manner to patients, physicians and other members of the Hospital staff and general public. Employee shall comply with all Department and Hospital policies/procedures. Employee shall support and contribute to Department objectives.
Performs pre-employment health assessments on all job applicants to determine physical ability to perform job desired.
Treats, counsels, refers and performs follow-up of all job related illnesses/injuries following all relevant Employee Health/Hospital policies.
Manages preventive health programs that are established and assesses needs of facility.
Creates and implements new programs according to hospital needs.
Maintains Employee Health files that accurately reflect all interaction.
Monitors and trends employee job-related injuries/illnesses for input into Hospital Safety Committee. Also trends illnesses for coordination with the Infection Control function.
Works closely with the Claims Specialist, physicians and other appropriate individuals to monitor employee treatment/progress.
Participates in educational in-services related to Employee Health. This includes educating new employees on the Needle Safety Devices biweekly.
Maintains Employee Health office hours as scheduled.
Monitors pre-employment and fitness for duty drug/alcohol screening. Monitors drug/alcohol screening as related to DOT Regulations.
Monitors employees involved in the Decontamination Unit per OSHA Regulations.
Provides appropriate referral and educational information for employees with non-work related injuries/illnesses. Works closely with managers, physicians and employees regarding light duty/restrictions for non work related injuries/illnesses.
Monitors employees involved in chemotherapeutic drugs per ONS and NIOSH recommendations.
Works closely with Human Resources, physicians and other appropriate individuals to ensure FMLA concerns are addressed.
Ensures reminder memo’s are sent to employees every two weeks for required immunizations and labs.
Ensures all data keyed in OHM is up to date and accurate.
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
• Active RN, BSN with current licensure in good standing from Commonwealth of Kentucky.
• Current AHA certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Experience (required and preferred):
• 5 + years of experience in an acute care facility.
• Prior experience in Employee Health preferred.
