The Security Specialist will be supporting the business priorities with guidance from the FSO and CSSO for multiple programs. As the Security Specialist, you will work closely with security management to ensure compliance with DoD directives, regulations and requirements as well as corporate/business unit directives and customer directed requirements. Along with the FSO, manage all aspects of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). Ensuring National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM) and the Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) compliance within the facility and assigned program staff on all aspects of special program security. Additionally, your role will include COMSEC responsibilities and Information System Security tasks.


Duties include, but not limited to

  • Review and monitor new hire and termination lists. Monitor group email and take appropriate actions.
  • Track and monitor process from cradle to grave and communicate status regularly and effectively.
  • Develop and facilitate new employee security briefings, security indoctrinations, annual refresher briefings and debriefings of employees. Provide clearance processing support, processing clearance verifications, reinstatements, initial clearances, periodic reinvestigation's, and program access requests. Responsible to coordinate with FSO, Program Managers and with the employee to request, validate, and perform review of Security forms and program access requests. Initiate security clearance requests, maintain records both hard copy and/or electronic, safeguards and ensures appropriate data is logged within the approved automated systems. Schedule initial and refresher in-briefs, program indoctrinations, and termination debriefs. Utilize JPAS/DISS for visit requests and personnel security; Utilizes and protect personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive information as required.
  • Maintain database records and support data integrity.
  • Attend meetings and discussions as required.
  • Provide visitor control, meeting support, and staffing support as required.
  • Provide support to Security organization and other coworkers as needed. Provide administrative support functions.
  • Assigned duties and responsibilities related to COMSEC and Information Systems Security.
  • Take independent action when warranted or in the absence of the FSO.
  • Manage foreign travel reporting process and briefing requirements as situations arise.
  • Investigate reports of security violations or security issues and prepare incident reports.
  • Participate in external security inspections and internal self-inspections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of security databases such as JPAS and eQIP
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills are required to support customers, senior management, employees, program managers, FSO/CSSO and other staff.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must possess a customer service focus, excellent interpersonal skills, and solid oral and written communications.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance/eligibility.
  • Must be able to work well in a fast-paced team environment .
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail is a must.

Desired Requirements

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience supporting enhanced security programs.
  • 2-5 years of security related experience.
  • Prior experience with DOD applications (e.g. JPAS, DISS, eQIP, and NISS)
  • Experience with COMSEC Account Management and Information System Security
