OUR OPENING AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Our Field Service Engineers represent the Mettler Toledo standard of a ‘Trusted Advisor’ to our customers. We are currently searching for a motivated, ambitious team player to fill a Field Service role in the New Jersey area. You will conduct on-site installations, provide customer training (hardware, software, and limited applications), perform equipment repairs and preventive maintenance for assigned instrumentation.
Responsibilities would include:
Performing on-site installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of assigned AutoChem instrumentation, including but not limited to infrared reaction profiling equipment, laser crystallization monitoring equipment, automated lab reactor, and sampling solution systems, proprietary software, and associated applications.
Establishing and maintaining the “Trusted Advisor” role for all customer interactions by delivering exceptional customer service, expertise, product positioning, lead generation, and training throughout the product life cycle.
Consistently documenting, communicating and managing customer issues with the Sales, Service, and support teams.
Managing and controlling field inventory.
Effectively managing administrative time and consistently delivering all required e-work accurately and timely.
Quickly escalating ongoing, prolonged field situations to service management and reporting non-conformance issues for quality enhancements and technical bulletins.
Willingness to travel to customer sites which will include day trips and some overnight stays in the assigned territory. Travel outside of the territory when needed to cover during vacations or emergency trips. Occasional international travel for service product training.
Demonstrating exemplary skills in customer relations and enhance customer satisfaction/perceptions by providing value-added services (e.g. Equipment Qualification).
Maintaining and projecting a professional appearance and demeanor.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 4 years experience (industry or military) or equivalent education in electronic/electrical engineering environment with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated competence and abilities to complete daily tasks associated with field service responsibilities.
Experience with Infrared, Optics, Lasers, HPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry or background in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus.
Documented abilities to troubleshoot electronic, electrical, mechanical instruments and computer systems.
Possess general software literacy and knowledge of Windows-based operating systems.
Exceptional customer service skills and the demonstrated ability to perform in a sometimes stressful environment.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written – English required.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Willingness and ability to travel, in excess of 75%.
SAP knowledge preferred.
