Position Overview

Under general supervision, performs quality assurance support for the Quality Assurance (QA) team. Typical job duties are routine and require use of standard techniques and procedures.

  • Responsible for planning and preparation of quality assurance documents and procedures and assisting all levels of project personnel in quality related matters
  • Performs surveillance and inspections in accordance with site or department procedure. Provides the results of these assessments and proposed corrective actions, if needed, to line management
  • Inspects material and equipment for compliance to purchase order specification and applicable quality requirements
  • Assists project management in developing an orientation program to ensure project teams are familiar with the requirements of the Project Quality Plan
  • Liaison with individuals and units within or outside division or project structures
  • Decision making authority and recommendations which have a significant impact on project quality policies and programs
  • Serves as the project QA representative on medium to large projects as assigned
  • Prepares project audit schedules, discipline activity plans for the QA function, and audit reports (internal and external), noting nonconformance’s and verifying effective corrective action
  • Acts as lead quality auditor, and follows up on audit findings and corrective actions
  • Responsible for technical and administrative functions (e.g., planning, organizing, interpreting, coordinating, and executing division and project assignments)
  • Provides mentoring/people development for direct reports
  • Provides assigned technical, administrative or functional support to the management team
  • Responsible for providing technical and administrative direction to direct reports
  • Responsible for planning and execution of a wide variety of technical and administrative assignments
  • Assists in the maintenance of project QA/PA records for all phases of the project
  • Performs duties complex in nature

GENERAL JOB QA FUNTION

GENERAL QA INSPECTION ACTIVITES

Perform Quality Assurance support for the Quality Assurance (QA) team;

  • Receipt Inspection for incoming materials from Shipping & Receiving or at Vendors site - Inspects material and equipment for compliance to purchase order specification and applicable quality &B engineering requirements
  • Code Inspection of Lifts, Cranes, Doors, and other lifting devices per started and procedural requirements
  • Surveillance and inspections in accordance with site or department procedure and provides the results of these assessments and proposed corrective actions, if needed, to line management
  • Lead quality auditor preparing project Assessments / Audits developing the LOI and performing assessment / audit to NQA1 standards with follow up development of the Assessment / Audit reports (internal and external), noting nonconformance’s and verifying effective corrective action
  • NEC Electrical Safety Inspections performed to meet site and procedure requirements.

  • Act as the liaison with Projects and QA with the capability to make decision and recommendations which have a significant impact on project quality policies and program where they would serves as the project QA representative on projects as assigned

SPECIALTY JOB FUNCTION

  • Electrical Inspector - Qualification & certification per FBP-QA-PRO-00034, Certification of Discipline Inspection and Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Personnel, and FBP-OS-PRD-00001 Electrical Safety;
  • Capable of completing and following NEC Electrical Inspection per forms J16 & J25, reviewing projects for electrical Safety to required NEC Inspection codes
  • Attend meeting for Projects to review electrical work to be performed and provide input, direction, reviews, and hold points for inspections to occur.
  • Provide QA/QC Oversight of all new electrical installations, modifications of existing electrical installations, and temporary electrical installations that require an Electrical Inspection Request (EIR) unless it is determined by the NEC Inspector or Electrical AHJ the work does not require an EIR.
  • Perform NEC Inspections not required for installation or replacement of electrical utilization equipment approved for connection to permanently installed receptacles with cord attachments or for minor maintenance and repair work including like-for-like replacement of switches, fuses, lamp sockets, receptacles, replacing worn cords, and tightening connections on a wiring device.
  • Capable of using meters and other devices to examine finished products, components, or assemblies for functionality, proper operation, accuracy, or assembly to verify adherence to NFPA 70 NEC.
  • Capable of reading electrical schematics and drawings to determine products, components, or assemblies for functionality, proper operation, accuracy, or assembly verifying adherence to NFPA 70 NEC.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, sample data, and other materials to determine adherence to NFPA 70.
  • Has State or other certification or equivalent experience in the area of electrical inspections.

Working Conditions - Inside

Work in an office at a normal environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities or industrial field environments). May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.

Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.

Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage.

In some cases radiological training may be required.

Ability to carry several instruments/equipment or tools while walking extensively. Potential prolonged walking/standing, repeated pushing/pulling.

Ability to perform medium to very heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, non-repetitive, up to 50 pounds of force frequently (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.

Potential for prolonged driving of or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck, golf cart, gator, heavy equipment).

Ability to work in confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise and areas with radiation and chemical hazards.

Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.)

In some cases radiological training may be required.

May be required to operate company vehicle during the course of work. All safety and DOT regulations and procedures must be adhered to at all times.

Education:

FBP-OS-PRD-00001 “Electrical Safety” requires the NEC Inspectors to have the following:

  • Four years’ experience as a journeyman electrician installing and maintaining electrical equipment
  • Two years electrical training in college with four years electrical hands-on work
  • Four years electrical training in college with two years electrical hands-on work
  • BA/BS degree in a related field and 9 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required as determined by FBP JHR

Experience:

  • Experience ranges from 4 - 9 years.
  • Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426 QA Technician Qualifications apply (High School/GED, 1 years job-related experience)
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills with strong PC skills including Microsoft applications
  • Detail oriented related to typical and specialized areas of QA inspections, assessments and reviews.
