We Are Hiring What You Will Do The Compliance Specialist will develop and oversee activities designed to promote regulatory compliance. - Conducts billing/coding and process audits and writes reports summarizing the findings. - Project manages the development of Corrective Actions Plans (CAPs) - Project manages the work of external auditors - Assist Compliance Officers with design and implementation improvements in communication, regulatory mandate monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards. - Conduct privacy walk-throughs as needed. - Conduct educational sessions about compliance issues with associates of all levels - Conduct investigations of compliance inquiries and hotline calls. - Assist in drafting Compliance policies. - Project manages data analytics for the department, which may include gathering, compiling, tracking, and analyzing data related to the compliance risk model, audits, dashboards, reports, data mining projects, and other initiatives as needed. - Uses data to create models that depict trends and provide early warning for potential risk. - Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets to help compliance leadership make informed decisions. - Stay informed of regulatory/standards changes and interpret applicability of changes across patient care, ancillary and general departments. - Ensure readiness at all organizational levels for regulatory changes and apply innovative methods for implementation. - Guide action plan development, performance monitoring and reporting when deficiencies are identified. - Collaborate on identifying best practices and streamline survey preparation. - Serve as primary regulatory compliance support for both complex and routine operations and administrative issues. What You Will Need Licensure / Certification / Registration: - RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) highly preferred. - RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician is acceptable - CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance is highly preferred - Rehab Therapist specializing in Occupational Therapy (OTR) credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation preferred. - Rehab Therapist specializing in Physical Therapy (RPT) credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation preferred. - Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing preferred. Education: - High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required. Work Experience: - 3 years of experience preferred. - Prior healthcare compliance and/or coding experience is highly preferred.
