Description
Summary
This position is responsible for review of documents and identification of increased value design approach options from all phases of a project from proposal through construction, utilizing knowledge of building design, construction process, building materials, specifications and construction techniques. This position will lead facilities projects by managing mult-discipline teams for commercial, natural resource, and rural clients. The position is expected develop new clients and business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide architectural design drawings as appropriate for clients
- Manage multi-discipline teams for the delivery of facilities and A/E work packages
- Review all aspects of project documentation internally within the company and other design professionals.
- Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of professional principles and practices in broad areas of engineering including rural Alaskan design logistics.
- High level drafting capabilities including CAD and/or RE
- Review design and documents for required code compliance.
- Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited university required.
- Able to meet the requirements of Architectural responsible charge with the State of Alaska
- Minimum of 3 years of complex project management, including management of sub-contractros and engineering disciplines
- A minimum of 5 year experience in residential, commercial or institutional design projects required.
- Knowledge of all applicable building codes and arctic design requirements.
- Proficient with MS Office software; including MS Word, and Excel.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.
Description of environment: Standard home office environment.
Physical requirements: Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and occasionally carry weight/lift fairly light objects such as books.

Maintain organization in a changing environment.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.
Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of peers, managers, consultants and clients.
