Stantec is currently looking to add a Civil Engineering Intern to support our Fresno, California Transportation team. The ideal candidate will have interest in engineering design in the field of roadways, streets, highways, interchanges, and rail & transit, and other heavy civil transportation infrastructure.
This position applies strong academic background in the field of civil engineering. The candidate must have interest in performing engineering problems and methods; and use advanced analysis techniques including the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. Applicant must be capable of working effectively with teams and be willing to learn from peers and supervisors. Work products will include supporting design of transportation infrastructure projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Serve as civil design support on large to mega transportation projects.
Participant on multidisciplinary teams in an office environment as well as in virtual team environment.
Support the preparation of studies, design reports, plans and specifications, and quality assurance reviews of related designs and construction plans.
Support the preliminary and detailed civil analysis for transportation infrastructure related projects.
Support the production of drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy.
Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong willingness to learn and to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices in California.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills.
Experience with Microstation is an asset.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively independently and also as part of a team.
Engineer In Training (EIT) desirable, but not required
Some travel may be required.
Education and Experience
Entering 3rd or 4th year of Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering
0-1 years' experience in roadway and highway design
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
