Surgical Technologist

Full-Time + Benefits
Monday - Friday, Varied Shifts
Assists professional nurses and surgeons with the intra-operative care of the surgical patient.
Shift Differential: $5.00/hour between 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM; $7.50/hour between 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM **(at minimum of 4 hours worked)**
Weekend Differential: An additional $7.50/hour between Fridays at 11:00 PM - Mondays at 7:00 AM
COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Requirement: It is required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza. Exemption requests based on medical or religious reasons may be submitted, but must be approved for active employment.

TECHNICAL/ADMINISTRATIVE/CLINICAL: (Total Weight of 100) Demonstrates competence in the skills, (processes, procedures, and equipment) necessary to carry out assigned duties as identified below. Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patient physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility. Applies the steps of the problem solving process to assist the circulating nurse in the delivery of nursing care to the surgical patient. Prepares for surgical cases by reviewing resources and specific equipment guidelines.
Follows established departmental plan for room preparation and room turnaround. Assures correct identification of patient when transporting to Operating Room Department. Assists with patient positioning. Assists with patient care under direct supervision of circulating nurse. Builds personal accountability. Maintains sterile field throughout operative procedures. Additional responsibilities and accountability. Demonstrates self reliance and resourcefulness. Displays positive attitudes toward employer and fellow health care team members.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology. If not a graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology then equitable experience with documentation of similar training. Surgical Technologist certification required; or obtained within 1 year of graduation or eligibility to sit for the exam. CPR Certification required.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS:
Thorough knowledge of surgical asepsis and infection control; knowledge of surgical terminology. Must be able to respond to emergency situations appropriately. Must be able to interact with all members of the surgical team. Knowledge of laser safety.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTA or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by NCCT required; or obtained within 1 year of graduation or eligibility to sit for the exam. Current CPR Certification required.
